Remains of a saw mill and site of a corn mill. The mills were in use from the mid 19th Century and later. Formerly described as a 3-storey and attic rubble building on a T-plan, the corn mill had two kilns, one with a small roof-ridge ventilator, the other extended in brick with a pyramidal roof and large square-section ventilator. There was also an 8-spoke wood and iron mid-breast paddle wheel. On the 1st edition OS map of circa 1867 there is a saw mill and a corn mill with the site named as 'Bleachfield Mills'. The mill lade and a series of sluices lay to the west, fed from the River Bogie. Standing building survey of the saw mill was carried out by S Farrell in May 2020 ahead of proposed development, at which time the building was heavily overgrown. The former sawmill is a single-storey rectangular building of yellow sandstone rubble with roughly squared quoins and lintels of yellow sandstone. It formerly had a slate roof. On the external southwest gable is an arch (not visible inside) of unknown function. At the north end was a possible former house with a fireplace in the north gable. Internal features had been removed by the time of the survey.
