Full Description

Castle Croft according to the OS Name Book (1866) was the site of a castle. OS (1967) noted that there was no local knowledge of a castle. At that time at NJ 5882 2535 there was a small circular building 1.8m high and c/.3m in diameter constructed of roughly coursed mortared masonry with rubble infilling. It is clearly older than present farm buildings but cannot be ascertained what it has been or if it was associated with a castle. Nothing now visible.
