Full Description

Stone bearing prehistoric cup-marks and a medieval incised wheel cross. Its original position is unknown. It was found in 1879 in the foundations of the barn at Tofthills during rebuilding work. It was incorporated into the dyke and subsequently moved and now stands on a grass verge immediately south of the farmhouse at Tofthills. The upper part of block of grey granite bears 24 cup-marks on its top and sides. On its top face is an incised wheel cross with shaft enclosed within a circle. The line of the circle cuts two cup marks. The stone measures 0.55m in breadth by 0.45m in thickness at ground level and stands to a height of 0.75m.
