Full Description
Remains of a recumbent stone circle, of which only the flankers and one other stone remain erect, although seven stones in addition to the recumbent and flankers were recorded in 1857. The circle surrounds a low bank of earth and stones. Cup-marks are visible on two stones. An excavation by Dalrymple in 1857 revealed a pit on the south side in which there was a small quantity of burnt bone. An urn was reportedly found at the circle in 1821. Dalrymple also recorded a mound of earth and stones to the northwest of the stone circle, at the centre of which was a pit (NJ52NE0042). This mound probably refers to an amorphous scatter of fairly large stones, circa 13 m northwest of the circle, on the summit of the hill, and may be a cairn.
