Full Description
Former Manse of Cushnie, associated farmstead and offices, and mill, depicted on the historic OS maps, now renovated to residential properties. The 1st edition map shows the former manse with enclosed garden at the northern end of the site (centred on NJ 50661085), with two outbuildings immediately to the west and east and three larger buildings to the south. By the time of the 2nd edition map, the outbuildings close to the manse have been removed, as has furthest south of the southern buildings. One of these (close to the southern side of St Bride's Churchyard, NJ51SW0002), has been extended to form a larger L-plan steading. The former manse is category B-Listed, and is a single storey house, with high dormerless attic. It is harled with chamfered margins. The skews are inscribed '17' (illegible). There are two stone panels: 'W.B.M.M. 1724' and 'JOHN LEYS 1803', which were cemented over in 1967. Prior to 1900 it had low first floor windows, but these are now blocked. The former farm buildings are now much altered and converted into residential use.
