Full Description

Farmstead, still in use. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a group of eight buildings named 'Balnakelly', the largest of which is an L-plan range. The easternmost building has an enclosure to the east. On the 2nd edition OS map, two of the buildings have been shortened, the building with the enclosure has been extended and is now L-plan, and there are two additional rectangular buildings to the north. Current maps show alterations to the L-plan building, and the larger of the two rectangular buildings first seen on the 2nd edition OS map has been extended. All buildings, aside from the other later rectangular building, the building with an enclosure and part of the southernmost building, have been removed. A whin mill stone is recorded as being at the farm by Ritchie in 1925, although at the time the mill was no longer in working order.
