Full Description

Remains of a castle, Z-plan, probably dating from the 16th century. One round tower and walling extending northwest from the northwest side of the tower is all that remains. The tower is 4 storeys high with entrance on the south side. The wall has two gun-loops apparent close to tower. The lower floor vaulted and there was a well in one of the vaults. Over the landing of the main stair was a dome vault which remains, having a fine cable-moulded sandstone pendant. Remains being restored by present owners. No local knowledge of a dovecot and it could not be found during fieldwork.
