Building record MAB12455 - LADYMILL

Former mill, now disused, possibly built in the early 19th century.

Former mill, now disused, possibly built in the early 19th century. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as an L-plan building, depicted as a corn and saw mill. There are three buildings, one L-plan and two rectangular, to the east, and it is named Scuttrie Mill. On the 2nd edition OS map one of the buildings to the east have been removed, and there are alterations to the remaining two. An L-plan building has been added to the south-east of the mill building. Current OS maps show additions to the mill building and the later L-plan building. The remaining buildings to the east have been replaced or incorporated into a larger building. The main mill building is B-listed, and is an L-plan, two-storey building constructed from coursed red granite that is part pinned. There is a stone-built kiln and a vent with a saw wheel vane. The wheel is internal and below ground level. There is a single-storey and loft outbuilding constructed from red granite with grey dressings.
