Full Description

The Alford war memorial is an oblong base of rough dressed granite standing on a two-stepped base and surmounted by a Celtic cross. It was unveiled on 11 June 1921. Designed by W.L. Duncan, Architect, Turriff. It stands on the east side of the cemetery and commemorates the dead from both World War I and II. This is an unusual memorial in that it denotes which of the fallen are brothers. In total, eight pairs of brothers from this parish died in World War I. There are also a number of war graves in the cemetery (NJ51NE0194). Full transcription of memorial held in AAS Digital Archive.
