Full Description
Former church, site of a church, and associated historic graveyard. There is no trace of an earlier church but there is a local tradition of an earlier church dating from the 12th century AD on the present site. The graveyard was extant in 1750 when a coin hoard was found during the construction of a new gateway (NJ50SE0008). A watch-house, considerably larger than the average size, is situated on the eastern boundary of the churchyard but has now been converted to another use. The present church is known as the Parish Church of St Finan. It was built in 1762 then renovated in 1851 with gallery, gothic windows frames and new skews. It is a rubble-built rectangle with a four-window south wall. The church is now closed and privately owned. There is a walled garden to the south (NJ50SE0085).
