Full Description
Remains of a cairn, site of cairns, and remains of rig and furrow. The OS 1st edition depicts the site of cairns removed circa 1853 when two urns were found containing ashes. Also at this location it notes an 'ancient Silver coin' found circa 1849. OS (1968) noted that nothing definitive could be seen of the cairns but at NJ582099 there is an irregular-shaped, turf-covered mound with stones visible which may be remains of a cairn. RCAHMS visit 1994 recorded a cairn is situated a little to the west of the summit in a patch of rough ground. The mound is circular, measuring 10 m in diameter by 0.40 m in height and has been disturbed by rabbit burrowing. There was no trace of the other two cairns mentioned by the OS, the sites of which now lie in an arable field. To the south of the cairn there is a small patch of rig, aligned north-south, recorded by RCAHMS in 1994.
