Full Description
Mansion house, built in circa 1800, and possibly incorporating an earlier core. It is a T-plan house of slightly differing builds, with circa 1900 additions. It is constructed from harled rubble, with tooled and polished ashlar margins and dressings. The entrance is in the centre of the 4-bay East elevation, and is masked by a single-storey rectangular, circa 1900, fenestrated porch with a side entrance. There are rusticated ashlar quoins, a continuous moulded cornice and balustrade. The 4-bay West front has a projecting gabled centre 2 bays, with a diminutive attic window, apex stack and flanking single storey rectangular projecting windows. There is similar 2-storey projecting fenestration to the South gable. Mainly 12-pane glazing is used. A long, gabled, circa 1800 2-storey range is to the North, forming the arm of the T, which may possibly incorporate an earlier single-storey house. It is now the kitchen area. There are 2 small swept 20th century dormers at the West. There are margined end and apex stacks and Banffshire slate roofs with stone ridges. There is a former small steading to the West.
