Full Description
War memorial to those who died outwith the two World Wars, one of three war memorials set within the Keith Memorial Garden (see also NJ45SW0067 and NJ45SW0069). It is a black granite stone of remembrance, comprising of a rectangular carved stone plaque set on the angled top of a low, rough stone plinth. It remains in very good condition. The memorial garden is enclosed with a tooled rubble wall and cast-iron railings, with entrances in each face flanked by simple ashlar gatepiers with shaped or pyramidal caps. An inscribed paving stone commemorating Victoria Cross recipient Lance Corporal George Sellar was unveiled on 9 May 2015. Sellar was awarded the VC whilst serving in Afghanistan in December 1879.
