Full Description

Remains of castle, built in 15th century. It was once the stronghold of the Oliphants. The tower is now roofless. Two storeys and garret over vaulted floor entered from west side where there is now an iron gate. Exposed south face with hearth and flanking aumbry in first floor. Entrance to adjoining room in second floor and garret window. Exposed face also retains various tusker stones. The castle was probably on the south side of the tower and fell into ruin after 1715. Various carved stones from castle now at Strathisla Distillery NJ45SW0015.

Built c1480, passed to Oliphants late 17thC; ruined 1715.
