Full Description

Farmstead, still in use, depicted on the 1st edition OS map as a long rectangular steading with two smaller rectangular buildings parallel to the east. A mill lade, sluice and dam are shown to the south. On the 2nd edition map, the steading has been altered to an L-plan with an additional small building at its north end, while the southernmost of the buildings to the east is no longer shown. The original steading appears to survive, and the sluice and pond also appear on current maps. Standing building survey of the steading and house was carried out by Murray Archaeological Services in October 2018 prior to proposed demolition. The steading, of 19th century date, comprised four structures forming a long block incorporating a mill, bothy and byres. The L-plan house was probably rebuilt after a fire in 1918.
