Full Description

Alleged site of stone circle, but may be the remains of a cairn. The Ordnance Survey Name Book (ONB) states that the feature was a circular mound which was remains of a stone circle because of large stones visible there forming a circle. The stones had been broken up and used for building prior to 1906. When visited by RCAHMS in 1972 a rise was visible at the site, overlain by farm garden but no intelligible remains to ascertain if site represented a stone circle or a cairn with a kerb, though the latter is more likely from ONB evidence. RCAHMS site visit in 1990 recorded a stony mound 0.6 m high visible immediately north of the farmhouse (NJ44SW0130). It may be remains of a cairn but surviving mound is of indeterminate size and shape.
