Full Description
Roadside fountain, dated 1897. The Gothic style fountain has a lion mask spout over a stone trough. It is inscribed 'Victoria diamond jubilee fountain 1897'. Given its location on the Wade military road it is possible that the present triangular structure replaced an earlier roadside drinking fountain or well. It does not appear on the OS 2nd edition map revised 1900.
