Full Description
Laird's house built in the 17th century (dated 1678) with late 18th century finishings. It was derelict, but was restored in 1980-83. An L-plan building of 3-storeys, with slate roof, and which originally had a cobbled courtyard. Round turret in northeast bears initials and inscription 'IG and JA builded this house' with a worn carved stone mask below. The southwest turret bears another carved stone mask. An 18th century dovecot incorporated in separate range of steading buildings to the north of the house. The house was once derelict but has since been fully restored. A 17th century sundial stands in front in the new courtyard. A fermtoun predated the house, on or near the same site. On the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps it is named Mains of Davidston.

Built 1678 with late 18thC additions; refurbished 1973-4 and 1981-2.
