Full Description

Remains of two stone built huts to the east of a spring known as Smuggler's Well, and southeast of a small pool. Recorded by RCAHMS site visit 1998. One measures 3.7m by 3m over tumbled stone wall-footings which are 0.65m thick and stand 0.5m high. The second, to the east, is 2.7m by 1.7m, with drystone walls 0.65m thick and 1.2m high apart from on the north-northwest where the wall is formed by a large boulder, and the west-southwest where there is a natural slope. There is an entrance on the south-southeast, and the wall to the east has been extended circa 1m beyond the entrance. Field investigation by Cabrach Trust suggests this was the site of an illicit whisky still in the early 19th century.
