Full Description

Farmstead, still in use, depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition map shows a group of five buildings including a long range and an L-plan range. To the southeast is a mill pond with lade running to the south corner of the L-plan range. By the 2nd edition map this range had been extended to form a quadrangular steading open at the west corner. The long range and other buildings had been removed and all but one of the other buildings had been removed and a new house added. There have since been further alterations including infilling of the steading court, and removal of the original building northwest of the house. Site visit during walkover survey by Rathmell Archaeology in August 2024 ahead of proposed woodland creation (NJ42SE0086) noted that the pond has been infilled, the line of the lade apparent though largely overgrown.
