Description
In 2017 Trenches A-C opened on the south side of the hill across the apparent line of the ditch, Trench D on the north side of the hill, and Trench E on the north facing summit. Metal detecting survey also undertaken as part of the community project. In 2018 Trench E was expanded to further characterise the nature of activity around a recorded stone paving, to look for additional evidence of the ditch and to further characterise its nature. Excavation confirned the presence of an extensive enclosing ditch. Charcoal sampling for radiocarbon dating - dates suggest at least two phases of activity, 750-400 BC and 390-200 BC.
