Description
Excavation recorded the remains of a cairn, with a posthole near the centre, and burnt materual between the cairn and the subsoil. A short trench to the N and W to check for existence of a surrounding ditch uncovered a small pit containing beaker sherds. A total of 265 sherds of Neolithc pottery were recovered (some prior to excavation), and sherds of three beakers from the pit. Twenty three flints, mostly unworked chips recovered from the cairn. Five radiocarbon dates obtained. Director: A HENSHALL Auspices: NMS
