Description
Following a coastal zone assessment survey of Angus in 2009, it was noted that parts of the limekilns had collapsed. A recommendation was made that the limekilns should be surveyed, as the site is under severe threat from coastal erosion. Erosion has caused a substantial portion of the southwest quadrant of the structure to collapse. Internal structures such as the stone-lined burning chamber of the four-draw kiln, a stone-lined duct, and the brick-vaulted interconnecting tunnels are also collapsing.
